Shimla: Congress veteran and former Union minister P Chidambaram on Sunday (December 11) said the Congress is best positioned to be the "pole" around which to build an anti-BJP front for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Along with this, Chidambaram said that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) does not have much popularity outside Delhi, except in Haryana and Punjab. He said that Congress should learn a lesson from the defeat in Gujarat. Chidambaram said there is no such thing as "silent" campaigning in a tightly contested election. He said that AAP spoiled the game in Gujarat in the same way as it did in Goa and Uttarakhand. Regarding the recent elections in the Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assemblies and the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), Chidambaram said that PM Narendra Modi should reflect on the fact that the BJP was in power in all three, but had to face defeat in two. P Chidambaram said, 'This is a big blow for the BJP. The victory in Gujarat is important, but it cannot hide the fact that the ruling BJP suffered decisive defeats in Himachal Pradesh and MCD.' He said that in Himachal, Congress and AAP won with a big margin in MCD. Devotion and unwavering family support were hidden behind Marcos' elite security guards.
