WASHINGTON: Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan admitted that 40 different terrorist groups were active in Pakistan. That has been hidden from the United States by its governments over the past 15 years. "We were fighting the American war on terror. Pakistan's 9/11 11 has nothing to do with it. Al Qaeda was in Afghanistan. There were no Taliban militants in Pakistan. But we were associated with the American War. Unfortunately, when things went wrong, where I blame my Government, we did not tell America the ground reality. He was addressing the people on Capitol Hill, which was hosted by Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee. Sheila is the chairman of the Congressional chairperson of Pakistan Caucus. She is also a member of the Congressional Caucus on India and Indian Americans. Khan explained to the MPs that the Pakistani government was not under control. Imran Khan added, "40 different types of terrorist organizations were operating in Pakistan. So, Pakistan has gone through a period where people like us were worried about whether we would be able to survive. So when the U.S. was hoping for more help from us and to win the war, Pakistan was fighting for its survival. Khan said it was very important that he met President Donald Trump and other top U.S. leaders. Khan said he was doing his best to persuade the Taliban to start the talks. On the last day of his three-day busy visit to the US, Khan expressed hope that US-Pakistan relations are now at a different level. "It is sad to see doubts between the two countries," he lamented. We hope that from now on, our relationship will be at a different level.
