Pak to plead with UNSC on J&K issue, will China provide support?

Islamabad: Since India revoked Section 370 from Jammu and Kashmir, Pakistan has once again threatened to go to the United Nations Security Council (UNSC). Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, who returned from a visit to China, held a press conference on Saturday. Qureshi said that he will come up with a fresh resolution in the UNSC against the decision of Section 370 removed by India from Jammu and Kashmir.

Qureshi also expressed China's support to Pakistan's proposal at the press conference. However, there has been no response from the Chinese side. Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi had gone to China to discuss with the Chinese leadership India's decision to revoke Section 370 of the Constitution granting special status to Jammu and Kashmir. While China advised Qureshi to refrain from escalating tensions on Pakistan-Kashmir and not to disturb its relations with India.

Pakistan had written a letter to the UN Security Council last day against the Modi government's decision to remove Section 370 from Jammu and Kashmir. But Pakistan suffered a major setback from the UNSC in this case. The UNSC did not respond to Pakistan's letter.
