DODOMA: At least 57 people have been reported killed in a major incident in Tanzania on Saturday. According to information, 57 people were killed when an oil tanker exploded following a road accident in the country's Morogoro. The city of Morogoro is located 200 km (120 miles) from Tanzania's capital Dar es Salaam.
Regional police chief Wilbrod Matafungwa told the press that "there was a massive blast that killed 57 people so far."
In connection with the incident, the police issued an official statement saying that 57 people were killed in Tanzania on Saturday when an oil tanker overturned on a road west of Dar es Salaam. The incident occurred near the city of Morogoro. Police also said about the incident that the explosion could have been caused by a cigarette as people were gathering there to collect oil leaking from the tanker.
