ISLAMABAD: Two Pakistani soldiers were reportedly killed in a firing from across the Afghan border, the military said here. Unidentified gunmen on Wednesday fired on a Pakistani military post from the Afghan side of the border in the North Waziristan tribal district of Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, said a statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations, the army's media wing. The statement added that the Pakistani troops responded in a befitting manner and two soldiers were killed during an exchange of fire, according to reports. Pakistan has consistently been asking Afghanistan to ensure effective border control on their side of the countries' border, the statement said. "Pakistan strongly condemns the continuous use of Afghan soil for terrorist activities against Pakistan," it added. Pakistan and Afghanistan share a nearly 2,600-km border. Pakistan is fencing the border with Afghanistan to block the movement of the militants. Pakistan began unilaterally building a fence at the border in March 2017 in a bid to control the flow of armed group fighters across it. Construction of the barrier, which is generally constructed out of wire-link fencing topped with barbed wire, continues in parts of Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan provinces. 9 teams to participate in next World Test Championship, find out full schedule here Cuba Covid Roundup: 2,970 new daily cases, death toll to 1,284North Korea's Kim sacks top officials after Covid-19 'grave incident' Russia continues to develop despite Western sanctions: Prez Vladimir Putin
