Sonia Gandhi raises CBSE syllabus issue in Lok Sabha, Here's why

New Delhi: Congress Interim President and Uttar Pradesh's Rae Bareli Parliamentary Constituency MP Sonia Gandhi today raised the issue of prose in a CBSE class 10 examination paper in the Lok Sabha. In fact, in the Lok Sabha, she described the prose as anti-women and asked the Board to withdraw the question paper and apologise to the Education Ministry. Opposition MPs raised a hue and cry in the House over the objectionable prose.

Congress Interim President Sonia Gandhi is said to have raised the issue of anti-women prose in a question paper for cbse class 10 examination in the Lok Sabha today saying, 'The Education Ministry should be sensitive to women.' At the same time, she further said, 'Whatever objectionable content is there about women in cbse syllabus, It should be deleted immediately. Insults to women will not be tolerated.'

She also said, 'In this case, the cbse and education ministry should apologise for insulting women.' There has been a controversy after allegations of alleged promotion of 'gender orthodoxy' and supporting "retrograde perceptions" in the excerpts of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) Class 10 English paper. The board referred the matter to experts on the subject last Sunday.

In the 10th examination held last Saturday, the question paper objects to the use of sentences such as 'women's liberation has eroded the right of parents to children' and 'a mother can get respect from her younger ones only by accepting her husband's manner'. After this, such excerpts from the question paper went viral on social media and people on Twitter are targeting CBSE for the same.
