Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami on Friday said that the state's people are the only heir of former chief ministers MG Ramachandran and J Jayalalithaa’s legacy. Speaking on the occasion after inaugurating ‘Amma’ mini-clinic in Salem, the Chief Minister said that both the leaders did not have children, but people were their only heir. “MGR founded AIADMK with an aim to work for the upliftment of downtrodden people and Jayalalithaa introduced several welfare schemes for them. Similarly, this government has opened Amma clinics to provide quality health care to people,” he said. In the recent days, various political leaders stakes claim for the legacy of MGR and this statement at this time is of importance. In the meeting he accused DMK president M K Stalin saying, “Unlike him, I am meeting people and fulfilling their needs. But the DMK continues to work for the selfish interest of their family,” as the opposition leader is engaged only in holding 'Virtual conferences' with his party men only with an intention to blame the government.
