People of Indian origin come forward to fight corona in South Africa

The coronavirus outbreak is increasing worldwide. But now people are also coming forward to help each other. In the midst of lockdown implemented due to the Coronavirus in South Africa, people of Indian origin have put forth their hands to help the needy. So far, more than 4,100 people have been infected with the coronavirus in the country and one person has also died. 'Gift of the Givers', an NGO set up by Imtiaz Suliman of Indian origin, is distributing protective masks, gloves, medical equipment and food items to people and institutions related to the health sector.

According to media reports, organizations run by people of Indian origin in Pretoria have joined hands with religious institutions and the government to distribute soap to the needy. Operation SA and Lodium Disaster Management have already started distributing soap to people living in densely populated areas.

Let us tell you that despite being a serious risk in Durban, 92-year-old Indian-origin doctor Nilan Gowendra has pledged to keep his medical services open to the needy during lockdown. Although elderly people are at greater risk of the virus, they have been advised to stay indoors and keep themselves isolated, but the doctor says that providing medical care to others is the biggest sacrifice and he wants to do it. Famous Indian-origin filmmaker Anant Singh has made his 10 most popular films available online for free, so that people can be entertained during lockdown.
