New Delhi: Government oil companies on Saturday cut diesel prices by up to 20-21 paise per litre in four major metros of the country, Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Chennai, while petrol prices remained stable. Earlier, both fuel prices were reduced on Thursday and Friday. Diesel has become cheaper by about 80 paise per litre in the last three days. According to Indian Oil, a leading oil marketing company, petrol prices in Delhi remained stable at 81.14 today, while diesel was cheaper by 20 paise to just Rs 71.82 per litre. Petrol remained stable at Rs 87.82 per litre in the country's financial capital Mumbai and diesel was down 21 paise to Rs 78.27 per litre. Petrol in West Bengal's capital Kolkata remains at Rs 82.67 per litre, while diesel is selling 20 paise at Rs 75.32 per litre. The price of petrol in Chennai remained stable at Rs 84.21 per litre, while the price of diesel was reduced to Rs 77.21 per liter. Earlier on Friday, petrol prices were cut from 23 paise to 26 paise and diesel prices from 35 paise to 37 paise per litre. Before that, petrol was cheaper by 14-16 paise and diesel by 19-20 paise on Thursday.
