Piyush Goyal's attack Sonia, says, 'she suddenly wakes up over RCEP and FTA'

New Delhi: Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal has responded to the comments of Congress interim President Sonia Gandhi on the proposed Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RECP) and Free Trade Agreements (FTA). Goyal said that it was in the UPA government that India joined the negotiations for this contract. Piyush tweeted that Sonia Gandhi has suddenly woken up to RECP and FTA.

Piyush Goyal questioned where was she when the FTA was signed with ASEAN in 2010? Where was she when the FTA was signed with South Korea in 2010? When FTA was signed with Malaysia in 2011, when FTA was signed with Japan in 2011, where was Sonia Gandhi? Where was Sonia Gandhi when her government opened its 74 percent market to ASEAN countries, but rich countries like Indonesia opened only 50 percent market for India? Why did Soniaji not speak against giving huge discounts to rich countries? I hope that former PM Dr. Manmohan Singh will speak out against this insult to him.

Referring to the proposed RECP agreement with 16 countries of the Asia-Pacific, Sonia had said that what was not done to the economy was reduced due to several decisions of the government that now it is preparing to do big damage through RCEP. This will have major consequences for our farmers, shopkeepers, small and medium units.
