PM condoles death of legendary Telugu actor Kaikala Satyanarayana

NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today, December 23, condoled the death of acclaimed Telugu actor Kaikala Satyanarayana, who passed away earlier in the day.

Taking note on Twitter, Prime Minster said, "Deeply pained by the passing away of veteran film personality Shri Kaikala Satyanarayana Garu. He was popular across generations for his remarkable acting skills and diverse roles. My thoughts are with his family and admirers. Om Shanti," 

Tollywood legendary Kaikala Satyanarayana died in the wee hours on Friday at his home in Filmnagar. He was aged 87 and suffering from age-related ailments over the past several days.

Born on July 25, 1935 in Krishna district of Andhra, Satyanarayana debuted with Telugu movie 'Sipai Koothuru' in 1959. He went on to act in as many as 800 movies in a career spanning 60 years. Although he excelled as the quintessential bad man in the movies, he was also feted for his portrayal of mythological characters, particularly Lord Yama, the Hindu god of death.

The entire spectrum of Tollywood cinema stars spanning multiple generations, including NT Rama Rao, Nageswara Rao, Krishna, Chiranjeevi, Nagarjuna, Venkatesh, Balakrishna, and Prabhas, Allu Arjun, Satyanarayana, acted along side with him. He last made an appearance in the 2019 Mahesh Babu film "Maharshi."

The two Telugu states' Tollywood celebrities and notable figures from all areas of life have expressed their condolences for the loss of Satyanarayana, who was renowned for his acting talent and generosity. In the 1996 Lok Sabha elections, he represented Machilipatnam.

According to family sources, Satyanarayana will get his final rites on Saturday.
