New Delhi: The 8th edition of Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana for 9.5 crore farmers of the country has come to an end today. PM Narendra Modi has transferred an amount of Rs 19,000 crore as 8th instalment to the accounts of 9.5 crore farmers of the country through direct benefit transfer under PM Kisan Yojana. Earlier, the government said that it has transferred more than Rs 1.15 lakh crore directly to the bank accounts of more than 10.75 crore donors under the PM-Kisan Yojana. Addressing a function on the occasion of the second anniversary of PM-Kisan, Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar had said that the government has asked the states to ensure that all eligible donors get the benefit of this flagship programme. Tomar said the scheme has so far benefited 10.75 crore farmers and the Centre has distributed more than Rs 1.15 lakh crore directly to the bank accounts of farmers. 6,000/- per annum in three equal instalments to the farmers under the same scheme. The scheme was launched by PM Narendra Modi from Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh on February 24, 2019. The Government has initiated a historic increase in minimum support price (MSP) for crops and is making every effort to double the income of farmers. He also said that in the last seven years, his government has taken several steps to bring about a change in the agriculture sector.
