NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi today officially inaugurated the iconic week celebrations of the Ministry of Finance & Ministry of Corporate Affairs as part of the 'Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav (AKAM). From the 6th to the 11th of June 2022, the 'Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav' is commemorated. He also launched the Jan Samarth Portal, a national portal for credit-linked government programmes. Furthermore, he unveiled a Digital Exhibition that chronicles the two Ministries' eight-year journey together. A special set of 1, 2, 5, 10, and 20 coins was also released by the Prime Minister. The Prime Minister, speaking to the gathering, noted that everyone who contributed to the long struggle for independence gave it a new dimension and boosted its vigour. Today is the day when we commemorate all of them, whether they chose the road of satyagraha, weaponry, faith and spirituality, or intellectual contributions to keep the flame of freedom burning bright. Today, as we commemorate 75 years of independence, the Prime Minister emphasised that it is the responsibility of every citizen to contribute to the nation's growth at their own level. He said that now is the time to re-energize the dreams of our freedom fighters and commit to new vows. In the last eight years, India has worked on various dimensions, the PM said. The increased public participation in the country during this time has accelerated the country's development and empowered the country's poorest residents, he said. He also said that the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan provided the impoverished with the opportunity to live in dignity. Facilities such as pucca Housing, electricity, gas, water, and free treatment improved the poor's dignity and facilities. During the Corona period, the free meals scheme alleviated the dread of famine for about 80 million people in the country. "We are seeing a new confidence among citizens to break free from a deprivation mentality and dream big," the PM said.
