NEW DELHI: Apple CEO Tim Cook met Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and emphasized that he is committed to growing and investing across the country since they discussed with him technology-driven transformations happening in India. Cook complimented PM Modi for the cordial reception he received when visiting India to open the company's flagship retail locations in Mumbai and Delhi. Along with expanding its retail footprint, Apple is stepping up its manufacturing in India. Since starting to assemble new iPhone models and create an increasing number of components in India in 2017, Apple has partnered with vendors. In FY22–23, Apple exported iPhones and iPads worth $7.5 billion to India amid a drive for local manufacture and a planned strategy for widely dispersed retail stores. According to preliminary estimates from market intelligence company CMR, Apple sold more than 7 million iPhones and 500,000 iPads into the nation in FY23, representing a 28% increase in iPhone shipments.
