PM Modi, Australian PM to watch India-Australia Test match today

Ahmedabad: The  Prime Minister of Australia Mr Anthony Albanese arrived at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad to watch the first day of the final Test match of the Border Gavaskar Trophy 2023 today March 9. He was welcomed by India Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the largest stadium in the world.

The two prime ministers will attend the Test's opening day on March 9 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Motera.PM  Modi welcomed Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese as he enters Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The last Border Gavaskar Trophy match will be seen by the two prime ministers.

Prior to the game, Albanese expressed his eagerness to watch it with Prime Minister Modi. India now holds a 2-1 advantage in the Border Gavaskar Trophy series. The series bears the names of two illustrious former captains: Allan Border of Australia and Sunil Gavaskar of India.

India currently holds the trophy after winning the first two Test matches of the 2023 series against Australia and losing the third. India will keep the trophy if Australia wins the fourth Test and the series is tied because the Men in Blue won the 2020–21 series.

According to Neeraj Badgujar, the Assistant Commissioner of Police, Sector 1, Ahmedabad police have deployed nearly 3,000 officers at the stadium and the surrounding regions of the city in anticipation of a sizable gathering of spectators.

Earlier, Albanese professed his respect for Mahatma Gandhi during a visit to the Sabarmati Ashram in Ahmedabad. He showed respect by taking off his shoes, went to the Gandhi residence's "Hriday Kunj," where he saw khadi being woven on a spinning wheel. He received books from the Ashram about Gandhi's salt march, his life in Ahmedabad from 1915 to 1930, and a replica of the spinning wheel. The books were authored by Australian novelist Thomas Weber.
