New Delhi: A major road accident has taken place in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. At least 17 people were killed in a delhi-bound bus and auto collision in Sachendi area of Kanpur district late on Tuesday evening. Expressing grief over the incident, the Prime Minister's Office has said that PM Modi has said that 'The road accident in Kanpur is tragic. Several people have died in the accident. I extend my condolences to their families and wish the injured a speedy recovery'. PM Modi has also said that the families of those who lost their lives in the incident will be given ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh each from the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund (PMNRF) and Rs 50,000 to the injured. Union Home Minister Amit Shah also condoled the deaths and wished speedy recovery to the injured. Amit Shah tweeted, "I extend my condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in road accidents in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. May God give them the strength to bear this suffering. I wish the injured a speedy recovery'. BJP National President JP Nadda also condoled the incident and wrote in a tweet, "Saddened by the death of people in a road accident in Kanpur district of Uttar Pradesh today.
