PM Modi pays tribute to Ex-PM Jawaharlal Nehru on his death anniversary

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to the country's first Prime Minister, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, on the occasion of his death anniversary on Friday, May 27. 

The Prime Minister said in a tweet today, "Tributes to Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Ji on his death anniversary."  On the anniversary of his death, the Congress party's official Twitter account also displayed tribute to India's first Prime Minister. "Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru was a true son of Bharat Mata. He was a brave freedom fighter, the architect of modern India, a statesman, a visionary, and a patriot. On the anniversary of our first Prime Minister's death, a billion salutes and billion tributes, "Today, the Congress party tweeted. 

KC Venugopal, General Secretary of the Congress, also took to Twitter and stated, "Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru was everything and more that India needed in her first Prime Minister: a leader loved by young and old, a leader with unrivalled vision, and a leader solely dedicated to building a free and prosperous nation. My most humble tributes to him on the anniversary of his death."

India is commemorating the death anniversary of the country's first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru. The first Prime Minister played an important role in India's independence struggle. Nehru fought against the British to free India from British rule and was a key leader of the Indian National Congress (INC). On May 27, 1964, India's first Prime Minister passed away. He served as Prime Minister from 1947 to 1964, when he died at the age of 74. He loved children and was affectionately known as Chacha Nehru.
