PM Modi Set to Inaugurate Six New AIIMS Facilities Across India

In an endeavor to bolster healthcare infrastructure, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is gearing up to inaugurate six new AIIMS facilities within the next six days. This ambitious move includes the unveiling of AIIMS in Samba, Jammu and Kashmir, and Rae Bareli, Uttar Pradesh, among others.

The inauguration ceremony for the AIIMS in Samba district is scheduled for Tuesday, with Prime Minister Modi officiating the event in Jammu. Following this, on February 25, he will dedicate five more AIIMS in Rajkot, Mangalagiri, Bathinda, Rae Bareli, and Kalyani, with the main ceremony taking place in Rajkot, Gujarat.

The AIIMS Jammu, envisioned under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana, had its foundation laid by Prime Minister Modi back in February 2019. Spanning over 227 acres and constructed at a cost exceeding Rs 1,660 crore, the hospital boasts state-of-the-art facilities, including 720 beds, a medical college with 125 seats, and a nursing college with 60 seats. Additionally, it features accommodation for faculty and staff, as well as residential and hostel facilities for students, among others.

In addition to inaugurating AIIMS facilities, PM Modi will also unveil numerous medical and nursing colleges across the nation. Moreover, he will initiate the groundwork for several new medical colleges and advanced health facilities as part of the PM-Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission.

Furthermore, advanced research labs and facilities by ICMR, as well as various National Health Mission (NHM) projects, will be dedicated to the nation. The inauguration will extend to advanced food safety infrastructure projects in multiple states, aimed at ensuring the safety and quality of food consumed by millions across India.

These healthcare initiatives, with a cumulative cost exceeding Rs 11,391.79 crore, are expected to revolutionize India's healthcare landscape, providing quality and accessible healthcare to all. The focus extends beyond infrastructure to nurturing the next generation of healthcare professionals, thereby fostering a healthier and prosperous future for the nation.

Officials highlight a significant increase in budget allocation for healthcare under the current government, with an approximately 143 per cent rise from Rs 37,330 crore in 2013-14 to Rs 90,658.63 crore in 2024-25. This surge underscores the government's commitment to prioritizing healthcare and ensuring the well-being of its citizens.
