PM Modi to lead the Yoga Day celebrations in Mysore

New Delhi: The major event of the seventh International Day of Yoga celebrations in Mysuru, Karnataka, will be led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on June 21.

"Apart from the main event in Mysuru, the Guardian Ring, a relay Yoga streaming event on June 20 that will capture and weave together a digital broadcast of IDY programmes organised by Indian Missions throughout the world, would be another draw. The suggested idea is to start streaming at 6 a.m. local time from Japan, the land of the rising sun "Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal addressed the media.

The minister also stated that a number of events are being planned in the run-up to the International Day of Yoga, with a 25-day countdown beginning on May 27 in Hyderabad, when over 10,000 yoga devotees would take part in a demonstration.

The Karnataka Governor, union ministers, film stars, athletes, celebrities, famous yoga gurus, eminent dignitaries, experts in Yoga and allied science, local Yoga institutions, and Yoga fans will all be present at the event.

Because this year's "Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav" coincides with International Yoga Day, the Ayush Ministry has also planned to commemorate IDY at 75 landmark spots around the country, with a focus on branding India on a worldwide scale.
