PM Modi to partake in reception ritual of 'Swarnim Vijay Mashaals' today

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend the 'Swarnim Vijay Mashaals' homage and welcome ceremony at the National War Memorial in the national capital, today at  10:30 a.m.

According to Prime Minister's Office (PMO), as a part of the Swarnim Vijay Varsh Celebrations to commemorate fifty years of India's victory in the 1971 war and formation of Bangladesh, on 16 December last year, the Prime Minister lit the Swarnim Vijay Mashaal from the Eternal Flame at the National War Memorial.

He also kindled four flames, each of which would travel in separate directions. Since then, the four flames have travelled across the country, stopping in Siachen, Kanyakumari, the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Longewala, the Rann of Kutch, and Agartala.

The flames were carried to important battlegrounds as well as the homes of gallantry medal winners and military veterans from the 1971 conflict.
