New Delhi: PM Narendra Modi is likely to visit Kuwait soon. More importantly, this will be the first visit of a Prime Minister of the country to Kuwait in the last 40 years. PM Modi's plan to visit Kuwait is said to be a strategic part of strengthening ties with West Asian countries and taking the strategic partnership to new heights.
Kuwait is a rich country in the oil sector and is also an important source of oil supply in India. Pm Modi is said to be inviting Kuwaiti investors to visit India during the visit and will also try to enhance defence cooperation from Kuwait. Media reports said PM Modi is likely to visit Kuwait in the first week of January. Earlier in 2015, the PM had visited all the other 5 Gulf countries. However, the PM could not go to Kuwait at that time. Tell me, about 1 million Indians are in Kuwait. During the visit, efforts will be made to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries.
India has a strong relationship with Kuwait. Kuwait helped India by sending a large number of oxygen cylinders and other health equipment while India was reeling under the second wave of the corona. Moreover, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar himself had arrived in Kuwait with a letter written by PM Modi to Kuwaiti Emir Sheikh Navaf al-Ahmed to thank Kuwait for its support.
