New Delhi: The Union Cabinet cleared the implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (PMKSY) for the period 2021-2026, with a budget of Rs.93,068 crore, with the aim of benefiting about 22 lakh farmers in the country, including 2.5 lakh SC and 2 lakh ST farmers.
Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, speaking to the media, stated, "Prime Minister Narendra Modi implemented the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana in the country in 2015-16. In 2015-16, a total of 99 projects with a completion rate of more than 50 percent but that had been pending for years were identified. Only 46 of the 99 projects identified have been completed. The remaining projects will be finished between 2024 and 2025."
The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) authorised central support of Rs 37,454 crore to States and debt servicing of Rs 20,434.56 crore for loans taken out by the Government of India for irrigation development period PMKSY 2016-21, according to a statement.
