Sahibabad, Uttar Pradesh: Prime Minister Narendra Modi officially inaugurated the first segment of the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) Corridor on the 20th of October. The Sahibabad RapidX Station, located in Uttar Pradesh, served as the venue for this momentous occasion. Commencing operations for passengers will begin on the 21st of October. The 82.15-kilometer RRTS project, a significant infrastructure development, will see the initial 17 kilometers between Sahibabad and Duhai Depot open to the public. It's important to note that the entire RRTS corridor, spanning the total distance, is anticipated to be fully operational by June 2025. Earlier, Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri revealed that the RRTS trains will be officially recognized as 'Namo Bharat.' Previously, in April, the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC), responsible for implementing this groundbreaking semi-high-speed regional rail initiative, had christened these trains as 'RAPIDX.' This marks a significant step forward in India's transportation infrastructure, enhancing connectivity and ushering in a new era of rapid transit for the nation's capital and its surrounding regions.
