Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in a historic moment, is set to inaugurate the nation's first-ever Rapid Rail system on this momentous October 20th. This milestone event marks the commencement of the Rapid Rail Meerut Corridor, dubbed "Rapidex," Phase 1. Following the inauguration, PM Narendra Modi will embark on a special journey, accompanied by schoolchildren, along the initial 17-kilometer stretch of this state-of-the-art transit system.

The inaugural route, which will run from Sahibabad to Duhai, is the first leg of the project, with a promising extension planned to reach Meerut within the upcoming six months. This development signifies a remarkable reduction in travel time between Ghaziabad and Meerut. Commuters can expect to enjoy the convenience of this Rapid Rail Meerut route in the coming half-year, with operational stations in the first phase including Sahibabad, Guldhar, Ghaziabad, and Duhai.

For those curious about fare details, the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) has outlined the rates for the Rapid Rail journey. The cost of traveling between Sahibabad and Duhai stations will be an affordable Rs 50, with a doubling of fares for the premium class. For travelers covering distances between adjacent stations along the route, fares will range from Rs 20 to Rs 30, making it a reasonably priced and accessible option.

This groundbreaking Rapid Rail system boasts a remarkable operational speed of 180 kilometers per hour, surpassing the pace of the renowned Vande Bharat trains. Commuters can anticipate frequent services on this route, with a new train arriving every five to ten minutes, ensuring efficient and timely travel between Meerut and Ghaziabad.

In addition to its speed and efficiency, the Rapid Rail offers a host of modern amenities to enhance the commuter experience. Passengers will enjoy ergonomically designed 2X@ seats, onboard Wi-Fi, laptop charging points at every seat, and ambient lighting for a comfortable and connected journey. Furthermore, the first coach of the Rapid Rail will be exclusively reserved for women, with an additional coach designated for premium travelers. These coaches will also be equipped with essential safety features such as smoke detectors, public announcement systems, dynamic rapid rail maps, and other advanced equipment.

The Regional Rapid Transit System, the first of its kind in the country, is powered by a high-frequency computer transit system. Following the Delhi-Meerut Rapid Rail, several other cities are set to benefit from this innovative transit system, including Delhi-Gurugram-SNB-Alwar Corridor, Delhi-Panipat Corridor, Delhi-Faridabad-Ballabgarh-Palwal, Ghaziabad-Khurja, Delhi-Bahadurgarh-Rohtak, Ghaziabad-Hapur, and Delhi-Shahadra-Baraut. This marks a significant step forward in enhancing India's urban and intercity connectivity.
