PM Modi to release special stamps on 12 unsung ‘Rockstars of AYUSH’

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will present the Yoga Award at 'Vigyan Bhawan' in New Delhi on Friday. With this, PM Modi will release commemorative stamps on 12 modern masters in the field of traditional Indian systems of medicine and yoga to celebrate their unsung legacy.

The award will be presented to the Prime Minister for his remarkable contribution to the promotion and development of Yoga. The awards were announced on the occasion of International Day of Yoga in Ranchi. Two winners of the previous year will also be given awards at the event organised by the AYUSH Ministry.

On the occasion, the Prime Minister will issue 12 commemorative stamps in honour of scholars, doctors and those treated by AYUSH systems. The 12 modern AYUSH masters include Dinshaw Mehta, Hakim Mohammad Abdul Aziz Lakhnawi, Swami Kuvalayananda and Hakim Mohammad Kabiruddin.

The Prime Minister's Award for The Promotion and Development of Yoga was instituted and announced on 21st June 2016 during an event on the occasion of the 2nd International Day of Yoga in Chandigarh. Among the 2019 Yoga Award winners are Swami Rajrishi Muni of Life Mission Gujarat in the individual-national category, Antoita Rosi of Italy in individual-international category, Bihar School of Yoga in organization-national category, Munger and Japan Yoga in International Organization category The Niketan organization is involved. Each winner will be awarded a cash prize of 25 lakh rupees, trophy and certificate.
