New Delhi: PM Modi attended the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation virtual meeting held in Russia today. This is the first time that PM Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping have come face-to-face amid the ongoing dispute with China. The meeting was led by Russian President Vladimir Putin. The meeting was also attended by PM Imran Khan of Pakistan. In his address, PM Modi said, "I wish President Putin all the best for the efficient leadership of the SCO and also for convening this meeting even after the difficult circumstances of the corona. This is an important year for India in the SCO. We're going to hold an important meeting. A comprehensive agenda has been drawn up for this meeting which focuses on economic issues." He added, "On India self-reliant, PM Modi said that we are moving ahead with the vision of a self-reliant India in the post-epidemic world. I am confident that self-reliant India will prove to be a force multiplier for the global economy and provide economic momentum to the SCO region." Attacking China, PM Modi said India has a close cultural and historical relationship with the SCO region. Our ancestors kept it alive. India believes that in further, to deepen connectivity, one should move forward with the spirit of one another's connectivity.
