'Work was pending for 50 years, Yogi govt. has done it in 5 years..' PM Modi slams Oppn over Saryu Canal project

Lucknow: PM Narendra Modi has reached Balrampur in Uttar Pradesh today to dedicate the Saryu Canal National Project. The stage for PM Modi has been decorated at the venue in Hasuadol village. PM Modi arrived at the venue around 1pm. Here PM Modi inaugurated the Saryu Canal National Project at a cost of Rs 9,800 crore and dedicated it to the nation. Addressing a public meeting, PM Modi first paid homage to the sons of Mother Bharati who was martyred in the Tamil Nadu helicopter accident.

Pm Modi said, "From this land of nation builders and national guards, Today, I pay homage to all the brave warriors of the country who passed away in the helicopter crash on 8th December. The departure of Bipin Rawat Ji, the country's first CDS general, is a great loss for every Indian lover. The entire country is a witness to the number of brave people who were General Bipin Rawat Ji who worked hard to make the armies of the country self-reliant. He said, "General Bipin Rawat will see India moving forward from where he is, with new resolutions, to his India in the coming days. India is in misery, even with pain, we do not stop our progress.''

PM Modi said, "Doctors are engaged in saving the life of Group Captain Varun Singh ji from UP, Deoria. I pray to Mother Pateshwari to protect her life. The country is today with Varun Singh Ji's family, with the families of the heroes we have lost. Explaining the benefits of the Saryu project, PM Modi said, "The government's top priorities are to make good use of the water of the rivers of the country, to reach the farmers' fields. The completion of the Saryu Canal National Project is proof that when thinking is honest, the work is also strong. He said, "Work on the Saryu Canal National Project started about 50 years ago. When the work on this project started, it cost less than Rs. Today, it has been completed after spending about Rs.10,000 crores. We have done more work in the Saryu Canal Project than we could do in 5 decades before. This is the double engine government. This is the pace of work of the double engine government.''

The Saryu Canal project has cost 10,000 crore rupees. This will benefit more than 25 lakh farmers in 9 districts of Purvanchal. The project has taken more than 4 decades to complete. Its work started from the Bahraich district in 1978 under Indira Gandhi. Then, the Budget was kept at Rs.79 crores. In 1982, 9 districts including Balrampur were included in the project. Governments changed, but by 2017 only 52 per cent of the work was done. In the remaining 48 per cent of the remaining 48 years of the Yogi government, the work was completed.
