New Delhi: PM Modi will launch the Pradhan Mantri Fishing Estate Scheme (PMMSY) at 12 noon today. During the event, PM Modi is going to make a big announcement for the fisheries and animal husbandry sector. In a statement issued by the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) on Wednesday, several schemes in the field of fisheries and animal husbandry in Bihar may be announced. It may be noted that Bihar assembly elections are proposed next October-November. The Fisheries Estates Scheme has been launched to enhance fisheries across the country. The Modi government will spend Rs 20,050 crore in the next five years from the financial year 2020-21 to 2024-25. According to the government, the scheme will create employment opportunities for millions of people in the country. The PMMSY scheme aims to increase fish production in the country with 7 million tonnes in 2024-25. Speaking on the occasion, PM Modi will launch fish brood bank in Sitamarhi and aquatic disease referral lab at Kishanganj under PMMSY scheme which will help in increasing fish production. These facilities will also help fish farmers to get good fish children. He will also launch a fodder-making plant in Madhepura. This is the platform through which herders can learn how to improve their animal breed to increase their production.
