New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is all set to visit Assam on Friday, 14 April to lay the foundation stone of various projects worth over Rs.3,400 crores. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will dedicate to the nation the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Guwahati and 3 other medical colleges in the state, an official release read. ‘The operationalization of All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Guwahati will mark a momentous occasion for the state of Assam and the entire North-East region. The state-of-the-art hospital AIIMS Guwahati, built for more than Rs. 1120 crores, has 750 beds total, including 30 AYUSH beds. 100 MBBS students will be able to enroll in this hospital each year. The hospital will provide world-class health facilities to the people of North east," said the statement. The construction of the three additional medical schools, Nalbari Medical College, Nagaon Medical College, and Kokrajhar Medical College, cost around Rs. 615 crore, Rs. 600 crore, and Rs. 535 crore, respectively. Also, by distributing Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) cards to qualified beneficiaries, he would officially launch the "Aapke Dwar Ayushman" campaign and set the cornerstone for the Assam Advanced Health Care Innovation Institute (AAHII). The Prime Minister will be present at the event celebrating the Guwahati High Court's platinum jubilee at Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra in Guwahati. Also, he will dedicate five railway projects to the country as well as commissioning a 500 TPD menthol plant in Namrup, laying the cornerstone for a bridge over the Brahmaputra River connecting Palashbari and Sualkuchi, and beautifying Rang Ghar in Sivasagar.
