Babu Wasim, who gave pistol to Shah Rukh Khan, arrested

New Delhi: The Special Cell of Delhi Police has arrested the man who gave arms to Shah Rukh Khan alias Pathan, the accused who brandished a gun at a police jawan during the 2020 riots in the national capital. The arrested person has been identified as 34-year-old Babu Waseem. It was Waseem who gave Pathan a pistol during the northeast Delhi riots in Jafrabad in 2020. In this riot, 53 people lost their lives and 581 were injured.

On the directions of ACP Attar Singh of the Special Team of Delhi Police, a police team led by Inspectors Shiv Kumar and Jitendra Mavi arrested Babu Waseem from near a park adjacent to Rajiv Gandhi Hospital in Tahirpur, Delhi on Thursday, April 7. At the time when the police team arrested him, a semi-automatic pistol of .32 with 5 live cartridges was recovered from him.

Babu Waseem, who gave a pistol to Shah Rukh Khan, is a resident of the Vikaspuri Colony in the Meerut district of Uttar Pradesh. Wasim is said to have confessed that he had given the pistol before the Delhi riots. He was on the run to avoid arrest. On March 16, 2021, he was declared a 'fugitive criminal' by a lower court.
