Prayagraj: Following the Manduadih railway station in Varanasi, the Prayagraj railway station will be upgraded to a world-class standard. Kanpur Central and Agra Cantt, two more railway stations in Uttar Pradesh's North Central Railway (NCR) zone, will be refurbished soon. Shivam Sharma, NCR's Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO), said:- "Previously, the Indian Railway Development Corporation (IRDC), which was dissolved a few months ago, was in charge of renovating railway station facilities. Following that, the revamping work would be carried out in the separate zones, with Prayagraj and Kanpur Central under the Prayagraj division of the NCR, Agra Cantt under the Agra division, and Gwalior Junction under the Jhansi division." He stated that the Prayagraj redevelopment, which will include airport-like facilities, is likely to cost roughly Rs 400 crore. The plan to construct Prayagraj Junction a world-class station was conceived in 2018, however, work was halted due to the Kumbh Mela in 2019 and the subsequent epidemic. Railways will work on both sides of the Junction, on the City side and the Civil Lines side, as part of the renovation plan. The facilities of lodging, eating, and vital item purchasing will be offered under one roof by erecting a multi-story building here.
