Hyderabad: In a distressing incident, a pregnant cow was reported stolen from a village in Karimnagar district, Telangana. The perpetrators took the animal outside the village where they cruelly slaughtered it. When the local villagers discovered the heinous act, their anguish intensified upon finding only the cow's skin and remnants. The tragic event transpired in Molangur village, situated in the Shankarapatnam mandal of Karimnagar district. The cow belonged to a resident named Gajula Kumar. The theft occurred around midnight on December 31, 2023, with Saddam, Sheikh Taj, and Manoj More identified as the culprits. By the dawn of the New Year, the villagers stumbled upon the distressing remains of the cow, including its hide and skeletal parts, lying outside their settlement. This discovery sparked widespread anger and unrest among the community members. In a show of protest and condemnation, members of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) took to the NH 563 highway between Karimnagar and Warangal. BJP MP Bandi Sanjay Kumar publicly denounced the act, sharing heart-wrenching visuals that captured the villagers' profound grief, especially when touching the cow's skeletal remains. Expressing his shock, Kumar took to social media, stating, "This is horrifying and heartbreaking. We urge the Telangana Chief Minister's Office, the Director-General of Police, and the Karimnagar Commissioner of Police to ensure stringent action against the perpetrators, ensuring such atrocities never recur." Addressing the situation, Huzurabad ACP L Jeevan Reddy confirmed on January 3, 2023, that a case had been lodged against the trio under the stringent Telangana Prohibition of Cow Slaughter and Animal Protection Act of 1977. All three suspects have been apprehended, with the authorities also recovering incriminating evidence, including a two-wheeler, the cow's hide, and the murder weapons.
