Prem Chand Bairwa: Political Journey of the Newly Appointed Deputy CM in Rajasthan

Jaipur: In a strategic move, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) appointed Prem Chand Bairwa as the Deputy Chief Minister of Rajasthan, adopting the formula of two Deputy CMs, following a similar pattern implemented in Madhya Pradesh. Alongside Bairwa, Vidyadhar Nagar MLA Diya Kumari was also named Deputy CM. This development comes as the BJP prepares to form the government in Rajasthan with the newly elected Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma.

Prem Chand Bairwa, the BJP MLA from Dudu, emerged victorious in the Rajasthan Assembly election, securing a notable margin of 35,743 votes. The announcement of Bairwa's appointment was made by BJP observer Rajnath Singh during an event in Jaipur on December 12. Beginning his political journey with the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), Bairwa has held various roles within the party, including district president of BJP's SC Morcha in Jaipur and general secretary of the mandal. In 2013, Bairwa triumphed in the Dudu Assembly, which became reserved for the SC category. Despite a setback in 2018, losing to Congress' Babu Lal Nagar, he regained victory in the recent polls.

The BJP secured a decisive win in the 2023 Rajasthan Assembly election, claiming 115 out of 199 seats and unseating Congress from power. The saffron party's triumph marked a shift in political dynamics, reducing Congress, led by Ashok Gehlot, to 69 seats in the polls conducted on November 25, 2023.
