President Droupadi Murmu Highlights India's Progress and Priorities in Parliamentary Address

New Delhi: LIVE ADDRESS - President Droupadi Murmu addressed a joint session of Parliament today, marking her first presidential address since the formation of the third National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government. Following her speech, both Houses of Parliament will discuss a motion of thanks.

President Murmu addressed Parliament today, emphasizing the government's proactive initiatives aimed at empowering the youth. She commended the launch of the 'My Youth India My Bharat' campaign, designed to bolster youth participation in nation-building endeavors.

Highlighting the significance of educational advancements, President Murmu congratulated the government on the inauguration of Nalanda University. She described Nalanda not just as an educational institution but as a symbol of India's illustrious history as a global hub of knowledge.

President Murmu also underscored the government's commitment to establishing a digital university. Initiatives such as the Atal Tinkering Labs, Start-up India, and Stand-up India were lauded for their role in propelling India to become the world's third-largest start-up ecosystem.

These efforts, she emphasized, are pivotal in fostering innovation, entrepreneurship, and skill development among India's youth, ensuring they play a crucial role in shaping the nation's future.

The 18th Lok Sabha's first session commenced on Monday, with the Rajya Sabha session starting today.

In the recent general elections, the BJP-led NDA secured a third consecutive term with 293 seats. However, the opposition INDIA bloc, including the Congress with 98 seats, strengthened significantly compared to 2019.

President Murmu highlighted several key points in her address:

Over the past decade, more than 25 crore Indians have risen out of poverty. Connectivity in the North East region has been significantly enhanced. The speed of constructing National Highways has more than doubled. India now contributes 15 percent to the world GDP.

President Murmu expressed satisfaction with the high voter turnout in Jammu and Kashmir during the Lok Sabha elections and thanked the Election Commission for successfully conducting the polls.
