New Delhi: India's President Ram Nath Kovind has accepted the resignation of Union Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal. Angered as the three agricultural bills were passed in the Lok Sabha, Harsimrat had resigned from the post of the minister on Thursday. On the recommendation of PM, the president has accepted the resignation of Harsimrat. The president has handed over the additional charge of the Food Processing Department to Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar. The ruling NDA split over the bills on agriculture. Showing displeasure over the provisions related to the bill, Union Food Processing Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal resigned from the Modi cabinet on Thursday. Amidst discussion on the bills in the former Lok Sabha, party president Sukhbir Singh Badal had announced his resignation. He said that the party is going to issue support to the NDA government. The protest against the Bills has reached parliament. Harsimrat tweeted about the resignation, "I resigned from the cabinet against anti-farmer ordinances and bills, I am proud to stand with farmers as sister and daughter".
