New Delhi: Congress national general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has targeted the government over the CAG report which claimed that the railway operations were the worst in the last 10 years. Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has said that the Center is trying to sell railways like other undertakings. Priyanka said that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has made the railway stand in the worst condition. It is noteworthy that Indian Railways had to spend Rs 98.44 to earn 100 rupees, the backbone of the country's transport system. This figure is for 2017-18, which describes the worst situation of the Railways in the last 10 years. In a report presented in Parliament on Monday, the Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) has stated that the operating ratio of Indian Railways was 98.44 percent in 2017-18, which was the worst in the last 10 years. 98.44 percent operating means that the Railways spent Rs 98.44 for every hundred rupees earned. Operating ratio is the expense and revenue ratio. The CAG said that if the Railways had not received advances from NTPC and IRCON, it would have incurred a loss of Rs 5,676.29 crore against the excess of Rs 1,665.61 crore.
