Shillong: The Meghalaya government has announced a magisterial inquiry into the murder of former HNLC leader Cherishterfield Thangkhue under heavy pressure. The Hinewrap Youth Council (HYC) had already put up banners in Motfran, Shillong, demanding an independent investigation into the 'so-called' murder of former HNLC leader Cheristerfield Thangkhue. Meanwhile, Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma on Saturday assured that a magisterial inquiry into the alleged murder of the youth leader would be conducted in an impartial manner so that the truth floats to quell all controversies. Addressing a press conference, CM Sangma said that, "Magisterial enquiry will be set up by the state government. Following this, the National Human Rights Commission shall intervene in the matter." "There is a huge number of credible and tangible evidence from multiple agencies against the former SHNLC leader Chesterfield Thangkhiew over his alleged involvement in the recent IED blast in Shillong city," CM Sangma added. Reiterating into the matter, CM Sangma reiterated, "Based on such credible information from multiple agencies that another attempt was going to make in Shillong, a raid was conducted jointly by the East Jaintia Hills police and East Khasi Hills police at house of surrendered HNLC leader Chesterfield Thangkhiew in the wee hours on Friday at Kynton Massar in Mawlai. I urge all citizens to maintain peace."
