Aurangabad: A shameful incident is coming out from Aurangabad in Maharashtra where a university has suspended a professor surrounded by allegations of raping his student and harassing her parents. Officers gave this news on Thursday. Begumpura police station has registered a case against the criminal Professor Ashok Bandgar and his wife on Tuesday night under various relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code. His wife has also been named in the FIR as she had allegedly told the complainant that they (both of them) wanted a son from her. According to an order of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University, the administration of the institute initiated action against Bandgar and suspended him on Wednesday. The order also states that the university has also decided to conduct a separate inquiry against him. According to the police, when this professor of drama department took online classes from 2019 to 2021, he came in contact with the complainant who was preparing for her dissertation. According to the police, the criminal professor won her trust and convinced her to stay with his family at his home in Aurangabad. An officer had earlier told that during February 2022 and February 2023, when the complainant was at the professor's house, he raped her several times. Citing the FIR, he said when the complainant told about the crime to Bandgar's wife, she told him that they both wanted a son from her. The officer said, after falling ill, the complainant returned to her home in Buldhana, but even after that the professor kept harassing her over phone. He said that the university administration recently gave a letter to the complainant and told her that she can approach the police. The victim then lodged a complaint against the professor after which a case was registered against him.
