Puducherry Assembly Speaker R Selvam suffered heart attack, Hospitalized

Puducherry: Puducherry Assembly Speaker ER Selvam has been hospitalized on Tuesday after suffering a heart attack. Sources in the assembly said that Selvam has been admitted to Indira Gandhi Government Hospital. Deputy Speaker P Rajavelu is handling the proceedings of the budget session in the assembly on Selvam being admitted to the hospital. Selvam suffered chest pain before coming to the assembly after which he was admitted to the hospital.

 

 

On the other hand, the Puducherry Assembly on Monday unanimously passed a resolution urging the Centre to stop the Karnataka government from constructing the Mekedatu dam. Submitting the proposal, CM N Rangasamy said that the construction of the dam by Karnataka will prevent the Karaikal area from getting 7 TMCF Cauvery water allotted by the tribunal. The construction of the dam will ruin the agricultural sector in the Karaikal area.
