The management said with the COVID-19 cases gradually declining, OP departments are decided to be open. The JIPMER release yesterday said, he OPD will reopen in a calibrated manner on a prior appointment basis from Wednesday.

The JIPMER website has specific numbers for the each particular department. Patients who wish to seek consultation from the specialised doctors should make phone calls to the particular department and book an appointment for tele consultation. The management said all patients and attenders must wear a mask covering the mouth and nose in hospital and only those with an appointment confirmed by an SMS to the registered mobile phones will be permitted. A single attender only will be permitted with a patient.

The tele-consultation will decide on in-person examination. During the tele-consultation, the doctor will give an appointment for in-person examination if needed and assessment to select patients who need such consultation. This arrangement is being done to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in hospital OPDs. “Hello JIPMER” mobile app can also be used by the Patients in android phones to book appointments for tele-consultation in JIPMER.
