Amritsar: A sensational case has come to light from Ludhiana in Punjab. Here Ashraf Ali stabbed his girlfriend's 65-year-old father to death with an axe to grab his property. Police have arrested the accused. Ashraf Ali runs a photo studio in Malerkotla. He had killed elderly Shinder Singh to grab his house. According to reports, Shinder Singh, a resident of Dehlo village in Ludhiana, was a daily wage labourer in the forest department. Ashraf Ali, a resident of Malerkotla, often visited his house. Meanwhile, Ashraf implicated his daughter in the conversation. The daughter of the deceased lived with her father separated from her husband. It was during this time that the two became in love. Even when the deceased father came to know about this, he did not object to it. The daughter of the deceased, who had separated from her husband, wanted to get married to Ashraf. According to media reports, she wanted to live with him in a separate house, but the accused was keeping an eye on her family's property. The report quoted a police officer as saying that Shinder had four members in his family but the deceased were the only men in his family. The accused Ashraf thought that if he removed them from the way, he would take possession of his property. Shinder Singh had left home on December 23 to paint trees on the banks of the Butahari canal when Ashraf reached the spot and started drinking with the elderly. Ashraf later stabbed the old man with an axe, killing the old man on the spot. The body of the elderly man was recovered from near a canal the next day. After identifying, the accused along with the daughters of the deceased cremated him so that no one doubted him. However, he later fled in panic. People suspected it and informed the police. He was then arrested by the police.
