Punjab Cabinet approves White Paper on state's finances

CHANDIGARH: The Punjab Cabinet approved on Friday to table the White Paper on the state's finances in the House during the current legislative session.

According to a spokesperson for the Chief Minister's Office, the council of ministers made this decision during its meeting here, which was presided over by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann.

The White Paper on State Finances is an attempt to simplify the complex issues confronting the state government while also clearly informing the general public of the current situation inherited by the incumbent AAP government.

The White Paper is divided into four chapters that detail the historical patterns and current status of financial indicators, debt position, and financial health of state-owned enterprises. It will also make recommendations for how the state's fiscal health can be restored.

The Cabinet also agreed to table the budget estimates for 2022-23 in the Vidhan Sabha's ongoing budget session.
