Congress: CM Channi's big announcement in a bid to woo farmers ahead of Punjab polls

Amritsar: Newly appointed Punjab CM Charanjit Singh Channi has made a big announcement regarding farmers on Saturday. He has ordered the withdrawal of cases registered by the RPF against farmers over dharna on railway tracks. Channi has written to the RPF chairman asking him to withdraw the case at the earliest. The cases were reportedly registered against farmers for stopping trains during protests against agricultural laws.

CM Channi has also announced the removal of income limits from the blessing scheme for girls who have lost their parents from the corona epidemic. At the same time, Punjab has now given the green signal to the family pension scheme for employees selected in government jobs since January 1, 2004. Channi had earlier announced after becoming CM that he would waive off the farmers' electricity bill.

As promised, in the first cabinet meeting, CM Channi has announced a waiver of electricity bills up to 2 kW. Channi said the outstanding electricity bill of 2 kW connection holders in Punjab will be waived off. At the same time, the connection of those whose connections have been disconnected will also be restored. This will benefit 53 lakh families.
