Chandigarh: Farmers have been outraged at the closure of paddy procurement in Haryana. Farmers have taken to the streets in many places including Jind, Bhiwani, Panipat. Farmers in Bhiwani have surrounded the residence of agriculture minister JP Dalal. A heavy police force has been deployed at the spot for security reasons. The farmers submitted a requisition to PA in the presence of the minister and accused the Haryana government of neglecting the farmers.

On the other hand, in view of the farmers' protest, the state government is now serious about early procurement of paddy and CM Manohar Lal, Agriculture Minister JP Dalal are going to Delhi. They will meet Union Food Supply Minister Ashwini Choubey. On the other hand, farmers say that the government claims to buy one grain each, but now why has paddy procurement been stopped. Due to delays in procurement, the farmer's produce will be beaten at a high price. There is a demand for early purchase through the requisition. There is also a demand for compensation for crops ravaged by unseasonal rains and the drainage of standing water in the fields.

Farmers have camped outside the residence of JJP MLA Ram Niwas Surjakhera to reach out to the Khattar government overcrop procurement in the Jind district. Farmers are protesting against the suspension of government procurement of paddy till October 11. Because Haryana has a coalition government of JJP and BJP, farmers have cordoned off JJP MLA's residence to raise their voice. In fact, the Haryana government has already issued a letter extending the date citing moisture and crop failure due to recent rains.  Farmers say the government can cut paddy if moisture is found. But the purchase should be started. A heavy police force has also been deployed at the spot.
