Punjab to launch new industrial development policy

NEW DELHI: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Friday said that the state would soon launch its new ‘Industrial Development Policy’ in the next few months.

Bhagwant Mann said that the state is strengthening its single-window system for assisting investors as part of its commitment to transforming the state into a significant industrial and export hub by facilitating businesses and fostering an investor-friendly environment.

Interacting with attendees at the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Northern Region Council's fifth meeting in this location, the Chief Minister earlier claimed that the single-window service was nothing more than a charade with no real purpose, which not only discouraged potential investors but also impeded the state's industrial growth.

He said, however, that his government is making every effort to guarantee that investors receive all privileges at this window without any type of corruption.

Mann extended an invitation to the state's business leaders to make investments and contribute to the advancement of industry.

The Chief Minister praised the CII's efforts to help industry and foster an atmosphere that is favourable to business. Creating acceptable employment opportunities for everyone, ensuring access to high-quality infrastructure, and enabling greater openness and accountability in governance are all goals of the Punjab government, according to him. The Chief minister said Punjab is ranked third in ease of logistics in the country as the state has a strong logistics backbone with five Inland Container Depots (ICDs).
