PV Sindhu loses in semi-finals of Thailand Open

India's star shuttler PV Sindhu crashed out of the Thailand Open after losing to Olympic champion Chen Yu Fei in straight games in the semi-finals here on Saturday. Two-time Olympic medalist Sindhu has lost to third seed Chen 17-21 16-21 in 43 minutes, ending her glorious journey in the Super 500 tournament.

The sixth-seeded Sindhu had a 6-4 win record against Chen before this match, but she has not been able to perform as strong as she has against the Chinese player. Chen has also won by playing aggressive badminton. The 26-year-old from Hyderabad has lost to Chen in the 2019 BWF World Tour Finals last time. Sindhu was trailing 7-11 at the break after a 3-3 draw in the first game. Chen continued to dominate with rallies and retained 5 game points.

Sindhu saved two game points but the Chinese opponent has won the first game easily. Sindhu, ranked 7th in the world, showed better play in the second game to take a 6-3 lead and managed to take a two-point lead by the break. But the world number 4 China player soon started to capture the game and went ahead 15-12. After which Sindhu could not reverse the rhythm and Chen has got four match points. Sindhu, who won two Super 300 titles at the Syed Modi International and Swiss Open this season, is now set to feature in the Indonesia Masters Super 500 tournament to be held in Jakarta from June 7 to 12.
