Spanish tennis legend Rafael Nadal has suffered a serious rib injury ahead of his match against Taylor Fritz in the final of the Indian Wells Tennis Tournament. 'Cadena Ser' quoted Nadal as saying that this is not good news and I did not anticipate it. I am very disappointed and sad as I was feeling better after a good start to the season. He has said that I will have to be patient and after recovery, I will have to work hard. Nadal is out of sight and has trouble breathing during his match against Taylor Fritz at Indian Wells on Sunday. He was seen rubbing his chest with his hand several times during the match. Earlier it was reported that Rafael Nadal had completed his 20-0 win-loss record for the current year by defeating future star Carlos Alcaraz in the semi-finals of the BNP Paribas Open tennis. Nadal, the winner of a record 21 Grand Slams, advanced to the final by defeating 6-4, 4-6, 6-3 over a player 17 years younger than him. The 18-year-old gave a good fight to compatriot Nadal but he could not face the challenge of his experience in a match that lasted three hours and 12 minutes. Nadal's 20–0 win/loss record is the third-best start of a season since 1990. He is scheduled to face Taylor Fritz in the final. 20th ranked Fritz is the first American since John Isner in 2012 to reach the final. He is looking to become the first player from his country to win the tournament since Andre Agassi in 2001. Fritz ended 7th ranked Andrei Rublev's 13-match winning streak 7-5, 6-4.
