New Delhi: Former Congress president Rahul Gandhi has been granted a passport with a short validity for three years. The passport was issued to Gandhi after he received a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from a Delhi court on Friday, which is different from the usual 10-year period for a normal passport. The decision was taken following objections from BJP leader Subramanian Swamy. According to the report, Rahul Gandhi surrendered his diplomatic passport after his disqualification as a Member of Parliament. The court's decision was announced by Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (ACMM) Vaibhav Mehta. He said that if the normal 10-year passport is not given, then the passport of three years duration will be given. The court's decision came in the wake of the ongoing National Herald case, where Rahul Gandhi is an accused and Subramanian Swamy is the complainant. The case is at the trial stage. Rahul Gandhi has been regularly appearing in person or through his lawyer. The court, in its verdict, emphasised the need to balance public interest and the rights of the accused. After getting the passport, Rahul Gandhi will be on a US tour from Monday (May 29). During this time he will join meetings and discuss with university students in Washington DC, New York and San Francisco. PM Modi released a coin of 75 rupees, know from where you can get it?
