Rahul Gandhi targets Central government on banking plan for corporate houses

New Delhi: Former Congress President Rahul Gandhi has recently targeted the Modi government once again. He is not happy at the suggestion of allowing business houses to open banks and on this he has given his point explaining the chronology. Recently he said, 'First the debt of big companies will be waived, then those companies will get big tax exemption and now give savings of people directly to banks set up by these same companies.' This morning, Rahul has made a tweet and in the tweet, he said, "Understand the chronology - first, debt waiver for some big companies. Then huge tax cuts for companies. Now, give direct savings to the banks established by the same companies. #SuitBootkiSarkar. '

Former Governor of Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Raghuram Rajan criticized the recommendation to allow Indian corporate houses to set up banks. He said, "The recommendation to allow corporate houses to set up banks is shocking in today's situation." He called this suggestion 'bad idea'.

Talking about the whole matter, the RBI has advocated the grant of banking licenses to non-banking financial institutions (NBFCs) earlier, which have assets of more than 50 thousand crores and have a track record of at least 10 years. Apart from this, it has also been said that big industrial houses can also be allowed to run banks.
