Kolkata: The Congress has decided to intensify its campaign in the next four phases of the West Bengal assembly elections, as the party feels that it has a good base here. This is because the minority is in large numbers here. The districts where voting is to be held in the next phases include Murshidabad, Malda, Uttar Dinajpur, and other parts of North Bengal, where the Congress got a good response in the last assembly elections. The party's hold in Murshidabad and Malda is strong because the family of the late Railway Minister Abdul Ghani Khan Choudhary is well-represented here, though now his family is divided between the TMC and the Congress. Congress observer in the state B.V. K. Hariprasad said, "Our focus in the area is to bring our votes back to the party's camp and the last four phases are extremely important for the party". In the ongoing war between the BJP and Trinamool in the state, Congress is gearing up to make its way and attract voters. Congress secretary in charge of West Bengal, B.P. Singh said in Siliguri that, "Our alliance with the Left parties and the ISF (Indian Secular Front) is strong and Rahul Gandhi will campaign for the Congress in Goalpokhara and Naxalbari on Wednesday".
